Why? - Tales has been a series I have loved for a very long time, though very quietly, as I try to avoid the masses of couple fanatics. I have artbooks from Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia; and when I was looking through my artbooks and found my boyfriend looked like Lloyd, I decided I wanted to do a costume to match, a couple cosplay for the first time ever. I know Lloyd's primary love-interest is Collet, but I really don't like Collet, I much prefer Sheena, she's very sassy and self assured, I love her. XD

Construction Notes

When it came to making this I wanted to keep it as cheap as possible; which became hard when I had to buy the wig. But material wise I tried to keep things cheap. The lilac material is poly cotton, and I used a kimono pattern from the simplicity range. The obi belt and bow are also poly cotton, and the bow is constructed the same way as a senshi fuku bow. They are all kept together with snap fasteners.

The legging and long sleeves are lycra; the leggings constructed from a kwiksew pattern, and the sleeves are basically tubes of lycra, with a back piece, like a jacket. The half-leg warmers are again, lilac polycotton, and they stay up with elastic, they are trimmed with white bias binding. And the lilac sleeves have blue craft foam around the knuckles and wrist, and the top is white craft foam. A fun part of the costume is the shoes, which are slippers (SO COMFY) with lycra shoe covers, and the blue foam decoration on the front and the tongue of the shoe.

I really enjoyed styling the wig for this, because I started off with a long wavy black wig, that I straightened using the hot water method. Once dry, it was trimmed and pulled into a ponytail. The front fringe was trimmed into shape and then hair gelled and sprayed with Tresseme Freeze spray to keep it in place. The ponytail was finally then back combed to make it puffy and get the fullness of Sheena's ponytail.
