Favourite Aspect - My boyfriend wears it. That automatically gives it a favourite aspect. But really I love the jacket a lot.

Least Favourite - The fact I didn't make the jacket. I would have liked to, but I just don't have the skill. :(

Why? - Tales has been a series I have loved for a very long time, though very quietly, as I try to avoid the masses of couple fanatics. I have artbooks from Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia; and when I was looking through them I noticed how much my boyfriend looked and would suit cosplaying Lloyd because he has the hair and height for it. I mentioned to him about cosplaying it, and got a vague 'okay...' and then started working on it in secret!

Construction Notes

I started with the jacket, because I knew it would be the hardest piece of clothing to make as its fitted and quite complicated. Having never made clothing for men before I figured using a pattern would be the best way to go, and did that, made a mock up out of red polycotton to begin with, which worked well; and then when I tried to make it with the pattern, it all went wrong. I tried several time, with stretchy and non-stretchy material. I failed each time, and eventually became very upset that I couldn't get it right.

Finally it came to a point where I didn't think I could get the costume finished at all; so I turned to the option of commissioning the jacket, which was probably the best thing I've ever done. I wound up commissioning it from Tab of Khaos Kostumes which is why this cotume turned out to be so expensive. He asked the materials etc. I wanted the jacket made out of, so I opted for drill cotton, and its fully lined. The silver buttons are also fully functional. I was SO extremely happy with the jacket when it arrived. The only bit of detail I had to do, was the sew on the white ribbon on the neck.

Most everything else was fairly easy. The trousers are stretch suitng fabric, with an elasticated waist, and come up like tracksuit pants. The bracers are from ebay, and the belts were bought from Primark. The belt loops and the buckles on the belt are craft foam, painted silver and glued on. Boots were supplied by Rich. :D
