Why? - This will be the forth fuku I've made! Once again, making this for my friend Caylithe for an Eternal Sailor group at Ayacon organised by my friend Angel Aiko. The original
Neptune we had hadn't updated on her progress of this, so it looked like we were going to be down one. Caylithe offered herself up as she already had the wig, if I would make the costume for her.
I agreed because she doesn't have as much time as I do, and because these are fairly easy to whip up, we decided we'd work together and try to blitz it in a day.
Construction Notes
As with all fukus I've made in the past, I started out with my faithful Kwiksew pattern 2932 and cut the bodice and skirts. The bodice out of the typical matt look lycra, and the
skirts out of satin. Caylithe and I found a nice dark teal colour for the top skirt, collar, cuffs and other bits, and we found a pale green/blue satin for the underskirt. The chiffon
for the bubble sleeves was again, a pale green/blue.
I made the main body of the fuku and the skirts, keeping the skirts long so they could be cut to the appropriate length once everything was together. Caylithe was in charge of
the bows, which were made by cutting and sewing the shapes and then stuffing with wadding. I attached the start of the bubble sleeves and sewed them to the main fuku body,
amnd then once she had made the cuffs, Caylithe attached the cuffs and the bubble sleeves to create the effect.
Like with my Eternal Jupiter, the star decorations on the waist, boots and broach were all made from fimo and painted with acrylics.
