Aerith Gainsborough, Kingdom Hearts II
Worn At - London Expo, May 2008
Difficulty - 1/5
Time Taken - 1 1/5 monthss
Cost - £70GBP
Costume Status -Active
Hardest Task - Lace detailing on shirt
Easiest Task - Shoes, hair bow
Favourite Aspect - Everything fabric. As a whole this outfit is love for me. I can be quite unfeminine. I live in jeans and
jackets and shirts. I rarely wear skirts, haven’t since I was a kid. So it was so much fun to put on a skirt
and halterneck and actually attempt to be feminine. It doesn’t get recognised very much, but I don’t care. As a
whole I love it.
Least Favourite The wig I commissioned was a huge disappointment, which is why I use a hair extension now.
Why? - Aerith is one of my favourite characters of all time. Her story is extremely special to me. Its my cosplay aim to cosplay
all of her outfits. And this one was the first one I did. Because its cute as heck, and also because it struck me as probably the easiest to do
as a beginner.
Construction Notes
This was the first costume made on my sewing machine and at the time of making it I was too petrified to even touch my machine, so my mum made pretty much all of this
for me, and used it to show me how to do things. She's been making clothes since I was a baby, so after a few false starts, we managed to get my measurements, for my waist and
shoulders.
The top is made of red polycotton with white, red ribbon as the halterneck, and there is red lace detail glued onto the top rim for detail purposes. The skirt is made
in a circle skirt fashion, with tiers of white and pink poly. It does up with a zip on the waist band which is hidden by the shirt when its on.
Between the making of this and the wearing of it, I appeared to loose my post-Christmas weight so instead of it sitting on my waist, the skirt actually sits on my hips. But I'm
not complaining. The boots are just a pair of Ugg boots and the hair ribbon was an old red hanky of my dad's (it was clean though when I put it in my hair!)
