Family and Personality
Katie is the middle child of three. She has an older brother, Finn who is seventeen, and a younger sister Bianca who is five years old. She is Ohio born and she and her family own
a small farm with pigs and sheep. All her family help out on the farm. It is her father, Kieran, who hopes Finn will carry on the farm when Kieran gets too old. Finn has
other plans being the quarter back in the high school soccer team he hopes to get a scholarship. Bianca lives for the attention their mother, Marion, gives her. She has been
babied and molly-coddled far more than Katie or Finn ever were as children. This is because Marion had to give up work following a severe back injury. She is now a house-wife
and therefore is able to spend much time with Bianca.
Katie is kind and warm hearted but also with that very naive. She still see's many things as black and white and does not yet have the maturity to see all the greys in between. She was
doted upon before Bianca was born, and the attention was shared out equally between herself and her brother. However, now that Finn is showing promise in sports and Bianca craves attention
Katie often goes without being noticed. She sometimes feels like she is invisible to her parents but has an exceptionally up beat personality for someone her age and refuses to let
it get her down. She is able to be heard if it is necessary and for her, that is what matters. Katie is a keen student and very hard working, taking on extra assignments and exta curricular
activities to help bump up her grades.
While Katie is by no means immature, she is also not mature,and through seeing things in the black and white way she does, her emotions are very strong. Her innocence makes her sensitive to
situations that would otherwise be blanked by someone older. She is a worrier, and spends much of her time flitting about people trying to help them as best she can. When she was younger
it was a daily event for Katie to loose her temper, but since Bianca was born she has been able to rein that in and calm down. While she does not allow herself to get angry very much, she is
not a robot and does sometimes completely explode in a torrid of words and screaming. She has a tantrum and then calms down. She does not like leading, and she does not like being alone as she finds
it very easy to get lonely.
Bonus Information
- Katie shows promise in the sciences and is very good with animals. She hopes to study oceanology in college and become a marine biologist.
- Ironically, despite her surname, Katie is the least green fingered person she knows. She managed to kill a cactus she was asked to take care of.
- She has a pet Siberian hamster called Boris, who she speaks to and reads her home work out to.
- Katie would love to travel when she is older and intends to do an American road trip when she is old enough to drive.
- The whole Gardener family is spread across the world. Katie and her siblings have over twenty cousins, many of which they have never met.
